Too. Awesome.
Feb. 1st, 2009 04:14 pmI just have to post about it. No spoilers, unless extremely vague hints count as spoilers to you. I normally don't post very much about anime series save for a "this character is awesome" or "this was really cute!", but THIS.
Le Chevalier d'Eon is now ranked as one of my most favorite anime EVER, if not the most favorite of mine. I really like how they tied in actual history into the thing. Toward the final episodes, I was just....I can't even explain. Everyone. I mean....I wanted to wring their necks and yet have them be successful at the same time. Every last one of them, but you know that can't happen.
Seeing everything tie together at the end, just, just. It was amazing. It really was. Oh, and aside from the awesome political talk, there is awesome fencing animation. The ending was really good, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Oh. GOSH. I wish it ended differently, but if it did, this series would not be as good. It's like FFT and Tales of the Abyss and actual history plus Ubukata's original ideas meshed together into one of the most awesome stories I have ever heard. Normally I look at Bible-based magic, and go, o....k, sure. But this one did not feel awkward to me, especially later into the story. And the cross-dressing. I don't think I've ever wanted to see a guy cross-dress THIS BADLY BEFORE. The characters disgusted me. The characters grew on me. I...don't know. It was amazing. WATCH IT NOW.
And as always, my paper writing gets thrown out the window.
