Thiiiis is kind of a summary of their relationship? XD; They're weird and they weird me out, but I still really like them! But what, an RPG hero's quest isn't always a quest for happiness, and love isn't always a part of the ending. If I'm going to give them an ending together, then they will probably be the only partly happy ones, Elga relentingly so, and both extraordinarily guilty. Why? Because I want tragic loves all the time? Can't say that's totally false, but it's not totally true either.
Elga's goal was and never will be love, nor happiness for that matter, and I'm not about to change that. Her duty matters most to her, and her priorities are pretty much set from the beginning. Semni's first priority is similar to Elga's, and love isn't his goal either, but it's higher up on his list than on Elga's list. In Elga's defense, she isn't cold, and she enjoys being in love and doesn't feel proud about doing this to him, but since she's resolved to let go of love if need be, she will. And she's already let Semni know of her intentions well ahead of schedule, so--well, what. I develop the relationship, but I don't focus on it, which is fine because it's not the love that matters! It's the people involved. It makes sense to me and I am going to pretend it makes sense to you, too. And to think this is a pairing I made that I like!
Ok, to sleep!
