keykAttempted to quasi-realify my characters. \o/ Also Altair. Altair is cool.
Starting off with the fanart. I'm back at the wall of great-how-do-i-improve-from-here, so I need to get back into gesture drawing....noooot that this one is. :|; But, in general, I need to start drawing more real-y things. So I tried to do it on an Altair quickie to see how I did! I still need a lot of work, but it didn't turn out TOO badly for a quickie! But, really, just the face. Bodies, I clearly need to work on more! His chest looks flat compared to his face, what with that round nose and all.
Hahahaha, all characters have been separated into rows by series. I'm starting to flip my characters' hair on accident sometimes, whoops. ^^;;; CAN YOU NAME THEM ALL BECAUSE I WOULD BE REALLY SCARED IF YOU COULD. But I dare you to try. It was a fun exercise. It was partly inspired by people commenting on my Assassin's Creed commission sample and all of the commissions where I was asked to draw someone and chibify/animu-fy them! Aaaand this is kind of the opposite of doing just that!
This exercise is also a check of just how varied my designs actually are. Take off the cartoony filter and check if they're still recognizable. Well....I think for the most part they are, but you can say otherwise? :>;; It also checks just how much I know/have developed the character's design. Do I know what they're noses look like? They're general atmosphere? Can I retain it even when shifting styles? Some of the characters, one particularly, just looks totally different, so I'm not quite at the point where I'm totally comfortable with their designs.
Originally, I was just going to do this for the BotL people because I'm considering making the art for the game less anime-y (probably along the lines of Le Chevalier D'Eon)! Aaaand then I decided to try it on others. It's actually really fun! Try it! I remember doing this before, but I don't remember if I posted it here... In any case, I don't wanna dig it out because I remember it was pretty awful lookin'. Still need to work on bodies as some people here are mysteriously lacking some large chunks of flesh! \o/
I'm kind of worried they all look Asian and not their supposed nationalities (or something). :/a Do tell me if they do look too Asian! :0
