keykReading "Hark! A Vagrant" and this awesome bunch made me reread The Great Gatsby, which I've just finished. I love and hate that book all at once. On the one hand, it's beautifully written and expresses its characters and weaves in its metaphors so well, and on the other, the characters are absolute jerks and are so emotionally driven and frivolous it ticks me off...though I'm led to believe that's half the point. Beaton sums it up quite nicely! ...Nick and Gatsby should've gotten together instead or something. 8I;;;; Aaaaanyway.
Love him? Now that's just silly. You forget I'm blind because of him. If I had lied and accepted it back then, maybe she'd still be here. The one time I stand up for myself is the one time I wish I didn't. What did she care that he was dead and mute and what did he care that she was no longer human? They both thought the far flung tales spun by observers rather amusing; honestly, it was rather fun being this way. I'd run after her on that slim chance of her reciprocating, but it's too slim, I'm too scared, and at the end of it all, people would question me: why aren't you smiling today? Sorry to intrude, but I've agreed to write Gray Cushing's biography. I'm sure you know, he's dead and all, so I'd like to ask you some questions about him, if you would so kind. They were both convinced they'd never fall into the idiocy of love, but by God they have. They're repulsed by each other's weakness, and yet here they are... What are you going on about? I'm about to bounce off the walls from excitement! College! Do you keep your promises with a memory? Now that he's dead, my priority-scale's been out of whack. It's irritating, you know? Oh, curses. Why give me a reason to remain when I had already resolved to leave peaceably? I swear--the gods conspire against me.
How's that for relieving creative writing stress? (Not all that great, actually)
Too many couples. Threw in some singles/asexuals in the upper right corner to even it out because I'm cool like that...and also a number of not successful couples into the mix, because those are fun to write.
