Feb. 16th, 2010 09:46 pmIt must be around that time of month again. It is very unusual for me to start crying because something was THAT adorable. That. That doesn't happen. Or at least it never has before. I'd tell you what it was, but by now I've forgotten. Sorry, my memory gets really really REALLY bad when I'm stressed. I'll remember a reaction but not what stimulated it. I've also been eating a lot. It's a bit early, but my hormones have never been good at doing their job.
So while I try to tackle down another calc quiz and attempt to get two writing projects down and anxiously await the two solos my choir director forced on me and since I'm kind of burned out of drawing (and I'm running low on space in my notes), I decided to get into another fandom for some kind of relief. Shion no Ou.
My brother was watching Akagi, which has a very distinctive style, and whilst I was laughing at the whole LOOK HOW MANLY WE ARE GARRRR MAHJONG HURHUR, I was all, geez, I miss playing chess and go and mahjong (once I upon a time, I knew how to play)! I'm part of the board of a recreational club at my school, which also doubles as the sci-fi and anime and videogame club, but we haven't been able to squeeze in the board games week we had once before. Few people would be interested, but, the last time we had a week dedicated to it, I had a blast!...and an unfinished chess game, heh. There was even a go board there before we had the mod switch. :/ Tangent liek whoa.
So, Shion no Ou!...The main character is so adorable and I even like sir crossdresser! I haven't been able to understand much of the shougi, aka Japanese chess, mumbo jumbo(although I'd like to look into it when I have the time), but I do enjoy the atmosphere the games have. It doesn't reek of manliness and overdone coolness, but it is exciting! The art is nothing to write home about, but the handful of characters I find endearing is enough to keep me interested and not mind the art. When I read these kinds of series, it's always cool to see how they delve into money and how being a pro player will affect their futures and stuff, like choosing not to go to college and such The story also has a mystery aspect to it, which...for some reason isn't the main reason why I like the series, but it does add to the story. To me, it only makes the MC that much more adorable. ^^; It's a lovely series so far (I wish more English chapters were out, haha ;;), and am going to try out the anime. |D
I miss playing chess and cards and go and checkers with other people. I suck horribly, but it didn't make it any less fun. My last finished game was done via AIM, and I was working on an MS paint grid and the other on an actual board, haha! I actually won that one, which almost never happens...it was really really fun. I...actually want to sit in on a chess tournament one day. D|
...I seriously need to work. I'm sorry for posting and neglecting. Bad habit, bad habit.
